Number the pages of a PDF
This tool adds the page number to the bottom of every page, in "page / total" format (for example, 3 / 12). You can choose the position between centre, right or left, but numbering always starts at page 1 and counts the cover as the first page. There is no configurable start number and no way to skip the cover.
Can I start at a different number, or skip the cover?
No, not today. This tool always numbers from 1 and counts every page in the document, including the cover. If you need to continue an external numbering scheme (for example, exhibit 47 of a larger case file) or to leave the cover unnumbered, that part has to be handled separately, before or after using this tool.

What does the page number look like?
It always appears in "page / total" format (for example, 5 / 20), in grey, at the bottom of the page. The size and typeface are fixed: only the position (centre, right or left) is adjustable.
Can I number only some pages of the document?
No. Numbering applies to the whole document at once. If you want to exclude pages before numbering, use the delete pages tool first.
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
Yes. The number is added on top of the page as it is, whether it is searchable text or a scanned image.
Is it free?
