Watermark a PDF

This tool stamps a text of your choice diagonally across every page of the PDF, for example CONFIDENTIAL or DRAFT. It only accepts text: you cannot upload an image or a logo, and the style (angle, colour and opacity) is fixed. If the document already carries a watermark, this tool adds the new one on top and does not remove the existing one.

Before you continue

Does it remove an existing watermark?

No. This tool only adds a new watermark; it does not detect or erase any watermark already on the PDF. If what you need is to take out a watermark that is already there, this is not the right tool: you would need to work with the file at its source or use another tool built specifically for removal.

How it works

Add a watermark in four steps.

From the original file to the watermarked PDF, without leaving the browser.

1

Choose the PDF

Upload the document you want to mark. It stays on your computer.

2

Write the text

For example, CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, or your company name.

3

Apply

The text is stamped diagonally across every page at once.

4

Download

Get the watermarked PDF, ready to share.

Your file never leaves the browser. The text is stamped directly onto the PDF on your computer: nothing is sent to any server.
Questions

Questions about watermarking a PDF.

Can I use a logo or an image instead of text?

No. This tool only accepts text. A watermark with a logo would need a different tool.

Can I change the colour, angle or opacity of the text?

No, those are fixed: light grey, about 28% opacity, always diagonal. Only the text itself is yours to choose.

Does the watermark appear on every page?

Yes, on every page of the document, with no exceptions and no way to choose only some.

Is it free?

Watermark is part of the Premium plan, 1.99 EUR per month, with all twelve tools and no limits. The only free tool is Compress PDF, up to 10 MB, five times a day.
