What image quality can I choose?
Three levels: normal, high and very high. The higher option produces a bigger, sharper image, but also a heavier one; normal is usually enough to attach to an email or publish on a page. There is no option to choose the resolution in pixels or the output format: the quality level is the only setting, and the final file is always PNG.
Do I get one file per page, or everything together?
One PNG per page, each with its own download link. There is no option to bundle everything into a single file, nor to choose another format like JPG: the output is always one PNG image per page of the PDF.
Do I lose quality with a PDF that has many pages?
No. Every page is rendered independently, at the same chosen quality from start to finish. A PDF with many pages simply generates more files to download, one per page, and takes longer to process on your computer.

Why does opening the PDF in this tool give an error?
Most likely because the file is already password protected, this tool cannot open encrypted PDFs either, or it is corrupted and not a valid PDF. Check that the file opens normally in another reader before uploading it here to convert.
Does a blank page in the PDF also produce an image?
Yes. The tool converts every page in the document, including blank ones, without detecting or skipping them. If you do not want images of empty pages in the final result, delete them first with the delete pages tool, before converting to image.

Do I need a subscription to convert PDF to image?
Yes. The account (magic link, no password) is needed for the subscription. This tool is part of the Premium subscription, EUR 1.99 a month, which removes the limits on every tool and adds OCR. Sign PDF opens on the free plan, with one signature a day.
Is the file sent to a server during the conversion?
No. All the processing happens inside your browser, in JavaScript. The PDF is never uploaded anywhere.
Can I choose JPG instead of PNG?
No. The tool always exports in PNG. If you need JPG, you have to convert the PNG image afterward, in another tool.
Does it work with PDF files that have many pages?
Yes. It works well with long PDF files: it generates one image per page, and conversion time grows with the page count. This tool stops at 500 pages; above that, it asks you to split the file first with the split and extract tool, then convert each part separately. It is not an arbitrary limit: it is what stops the browser from running out of memory partway through the conversion. There is also an area limit per page: a very large page, such as a poster, can exceed what the browser can draw. In that case, pick a lower quality and try again.
