BestPDFInTheWorld vs iLovePDF
BestPDFInTheWorld processes files inside the browser and iLovePDF processes them on its own servers. That is the only architectural difference between the two, and almost every other difference follows from it. The iLovePDF security page describes the encryption protecting your data "from the moment you upload it until it's processed" and states that processed files are deleted within two hours, which is a good retention policy and is a different thing from the file never having left your computer. iLovePDF has thirty two tools and charges EUR 9 per month, or EUR 60 for a full year, the equivalent of EUR 5 per month; BestPDFInTheWorld has thirty-three and charges EUR 1.99 per month, with no annual plan. Prices and ceilings read on ilovepdf.com/pricing on 12 August 2026.

- Where it processes: BestPDFInTheWorld runs in the browser and uploads nothing; iLovePDF processes on its own servers. We searched ilovepdf.com/help/security for "client-side", "in your browser" and "never leave" on 12 August 2026, and none of the three appears.
- iLovePDF price, exactly as its own page writes it: "9€ Billed monthly" and "60€ Billed annually", that is EUR 5 per month if you pay a year up front. The Business plan says "Let's talk" and publishes no price.
- BestPDFInTheWorld price: EUR 1.99 per month, no annual plan, no one-off purchase, cancel whenever you want.
- iLovePDF free plan ceilings, per task: merge up to 25 files, compress up to 200 MB, OCR up to 15 MB, AI summariser one page.
- BestPDFInTheWorld free plan: Sign PDF opens with no account, one signature a day and files up to 10 MB, and every other tool opens with the Premium subscription, EUR 1.99 a month.
- Retention: iLovePDF states it deletes processed files within two hours. BestPDFInTheWorld has no retention to state, because no server ever receives the file.
- What iLovePDF has and BestPDFInTheWorld does not: an API (iLoveAPI), team plans, dedicated desktop and mobile apps, and more tools.
- Independent check, in under a minute: open F12, the Network tab, and run the operation. A POST request the size of your file means it was uploaded.
What is the difference between BestPDFInTheWorld and iLovePDF?
The difference is where the file sits at the moment it is read. BestPDFInTheWorld reads the PDF with JavaScript already loaded in the page, processes it on your own processor and builds the result in memory: the file never exists outside your computer. iLovePDF receives the file, processes it on company machines and sends the result back.
This is not about trusting anyone's privacy policy more or less. It is about what is technically possible. A service that never receives the file cannot store it, index it, train a model on it or hand it to a third party under a court order, because it does not have it. A service that does receive it can do all of that, and what stops it is the policy it wrote itself.
iLovePDF wrote a good policy, and that is worth saying out loud: its security page states that "all files processed within our platform are automatically and permanently deleted within two hours of being processed". Two hours is a short window. It remains a contractual promise rather than a technical impossibility, and that distinction only matters when the document is confidential by professional obligation.
How we know iLovePDF processes on its own side
This is not our inference. The iLovePDF security page itself describes the encryption protecting your data "from the moment you upload it until it's processed", and claims encryption "both in transit and at rest", a phrase that only makes sense for someone holding files at rest on their own machine. On 12 August 2026 we searched that page for "client-side", "in your browser" and "never leave", and none of the three appears.
What each one costs, with the vendor's own published prices
The iLovePDF figures were read on ilovepdf.com/pricing on 12 August 2026, in the currency the page itself publishes, which is the euro. The two Premium figures are not two plans: they are the same plan on two billing cycles.
| Criterion | BestPDFInTheWorld | iLovePDF |
|---|---|---|
| Where the file is processed | In your browser | On iLovePDF's servers |
| The file is uploaded | No | Yes |
| Paid plan price | EUR 1.99 per month, no annual plan | EUR 9 per month, or EUR 60 per year (EUR 5 per month) |
| Team plan | None | Business, price on request |
| Account for the free plan | No | No |
| Tools | Thirty-three, with OCR on the paid plan | Thirty two, with OCR |
| Free plan ceiling | Sign PDF only: one signature a day, 10 MB | Per task: merge 25 files, compress 200 MB, OCR 15 MB |
| File retention | There is no file to retain | Deleted within two hours, according to the vendor |
| Works with no network | Yes, once the page has loaded once | No |
| API | No | Yes, iLoveAPI |
| Dedicated apps | No, it installs as a web app | Yes, desktop and mobile |
Over a year, which is how a subscription is actually paid, iLovePDF costs EUR 60 if you pay it all up front, or EUR 108 paying month by month. BestPDFInTheWorld costs EUR 23.88 a year, and there is no way to pay less by paying in advance, because there is no annual plan.
What does each free plan actually let you do?
Both open with no account, and that is where the similarity ends, because the unit of the limit is different. In iLovePDF the ceiling is per task and changes from tool to tool. In BestPDFInTheWorld there is no daily ceiling at all with the Premium subscription, and without it Sign PDF opens, with one signature a day.
- iLovePDF: the pricing page describes the free plan as having limited document processing, without publishing the number. What it does publish are per task ceilings: merge up to 25 files at a time, compress up to 200 MB per task, OCR up to 15 MB, and most converters at 15 MB or less. The AI summariser stops at one page.
- BestPDFInTheWorld: Sign PDF opens without paying and without an account, with one signature a day and files up to 10 MB, and every other tool opens with the Premium subscription, EUR 1.99 a month. The count is per tool, so spending the merge does not spend the rotate.
Notice what those two ceilings mean in practice. The 200 MB iLovePDF allows on compression is far more generous than our 10 MB, and anyone with a big PDF to handle today is better served there. In exchange, iLovePDF does not publish the daily ceiling of its free plan, and ours is written on the pricing page.
Where each one wins
A comparison written by one of the parties is only worth something if it says where the other one wins. iLovePDF is a mature product, with more tools than us and with things we simply do not have.
Choose iLovePDF if
- You need an API. iLoveAPI exists and BestPDFInTheWorld has no API at all. Anyone processing a thousand PDFs a night on a server needs a service with an API, and this is not one.
- You work in a team and need central billing and licence management for several people. The iLovePDF Business plan exists for that; BestPDFInTheWorld has a single individual plan.
- You have large files. The ceiling on browser processing is browser memory, especially on a phone. The 200 MB per compression task iLovePDF allows is well above what our free plan accepts.
- You need a tool only it has. It is thirty two against our thirty-three, and its list includes things we do not do.
- You want a dedicated app for desktop or mobile. BestPDFInTheWorld installs as a web app and runs in the browser, which is not the same thing.
Choose BestPDFInTheWorld if
- The document cannot leave your computer. Contracts, identity documents, financial reports, medical records. Here privacy does not rest on a retention policy, it rests on the file never having travelled, and you can confirm that yourself in the browser Network tab.
- EUR 1.99 a month is enough for you. That is EUR 23.88 a year against EUR 60 for the iLovePDF annual plan, for everyday PDF work.
- You do not want to pay a year up front to get the lowest price. BestPDFInTheWorld has no annual plan, so there is no price that requires a twelve month commitment.
- You work on a flaky connection, or none. Once the page has loaded a single time, the tools keep working. A service that processes on the server cannot do this, by construction.
- You want to know the limitation before you pay. Every BestPDFInTheWorld tool page says what that tool does not do, and that list sits before the pay button, not in the terms and conditions.
How do I confirm for myself that my file does not leave?
You do not have to take our word for it, and you should not. The browser shows you, and the procedure works on any site, this one included:
- Open the site and press F12 (or right click and choose Inspect).
- Go to the Network tab and clear the list.
- Pick your PDF and run the operation.
- Look at the request size column. A POST request roughly the size of your file means the file was uploaded.
In a service that processes locally, the only requests you see are libraries and fonts, all at a fixed size independent of the PDF you chose. Repeat it with a 1 MB file and a 20 MB file: if outbound traffic does not change, nothing was uploaded.
What does BestPDFInTheWorld not do?
BestPDFInTheWorld has no API, no team plans, does not edit text inside the PDF, stores nothing in the cloud and keeps no history (there is no server to store it on), encrypts with AES-128 and not AES-256, and its signature is visual and is not a qualified electronic signature. Compression rasterises the pages, which shrinks the file a lot and makes the text stop being selectable, and PDF to Word extracts the text without keeping tables, images or columns.
If any of those matters to you, iLovePDF serves you better, and it is better to find that out now than after paying. If none of them does, the rest is here: thirty-three tools that run on your computer for EUR 1.99 a month, with the file never leaving your machine, and Sign PDF to try without paying.
BestPDFInTheWorld and iLovePDF
Does iLovePDF upload my files to a server?
Yes. The iLovePDF security page describes the encryption protecting your data "from the moment you upload it until it's processed" and claims encryption in transit and at rest. On 12 August 2026 we searched that page for "client-side", "in your browser" and "never leave", and none of the expressions appears. BestPDFInTheWorld processes inside the browser and uploads nothing, which you can confirm in the Network tab.
How much does iLovePDF cost per month?
The iLovePDF pricing page publishes "9€ Billed monthly" for the Premium plan, and "60€ Billed annually" for the same plan paid up front, the equivalent of EUR 5 per month. The Business plan says "Let's talk" and publishes no price. Figures read on 12 August 2026. BestPDFInTheWorld costs EUR 1.99 per month and has no annual plan.
Does iLovePDF delete my files?
The iLovePDF security page states that all files processed on the platform are automatically and permanently deleted within two hours. That is a contractual promise we have no reason to doubt, and it is different from the file never having been sent. BestPDFInTheWorld has no retention period to state, because no server ever receives the file.
Does iLovePDF have more tools than BestPDFInTheWorld?
It does. The iLovePDF tool menu listed thirty two on 31 July 2026, OCR included, against the thirty-three in BestPDFInTheWorld. iLovePDF also has an API and team plans, which BestPDFInTheWorld does not.
Do I need an account for either free plan?
No, for neither. Both only ask for an account to subscribe to the paid plan. In BestPDFInTheWorld Sign PDF opens with no account, with one signature a day; every other tool needs the Premium subscription.
Can I use BestPDFInTheWorld with no internet connection?
Yes, once the page has loaded a single time. BestPDFInTheWorld is an installable web app and the tools run locally, so they keep working with no network. iLovePDF cannot do this, because it needs to receive the file in order to process it.
